Holiday Spirit

how-the-grinch-stole-christmas-akimbo

It’s almost the middle of December and I still haven’t decorated for Christmas or Yule. Yule is right around the corner, only ten days away until it’s time to light the Yule log. I don’t know why I’m not feeling the holiday spirit this year. I just don’t feel connected to anything going on regarding the holidays.

I was much more into things with my husband Sandy (who passed away 7 years ago this Christmas). I know my friends are quick to point out that losing my husband at Christmas is likely the reason why I don’t get too ramped up about celebrating the holidays. I’m sure that’s a part of it but I don’t know if that’s all of it. I feel more that Christmas isn’t what it used to be in this day and age, that it was more humble and meaningful when we weren’t so technologically advanced.

For some they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and I am down with that if it’s your thing (which obviously since I am a Buddhist Pagan, it’s not mine) but too often I see that Christmas, a time of goodwill toward all people is lip-service and all about getting something material that you wanted all year.

I’m grateful for all I have and want to give whatever I can to those who have less than I do or who have greater need. I feel that way though, all year long. I keep that spirit alive the other 11 months of the year, not out of obligation but because giving makes me feel really good.

Certainly better than getting some new techno-gift or a gifty thing that is not even need but desire.

Maybe I’ll find my Christmas mojo before the holidays start for me on Yule.

I’m not a Grinch, not usually.

What being a witch is for me.

Triple_Goddess

I’ve been a witch for most of my life. I have not always discussed being a witch and usually did not tell this detail to people I met. Often I did not tell them even after them knowing me for many years (like all of my sorority sisters for instance had no idea). When I got married my husband did not know that I was a witch and had practiced, trained and dedicated part of my life to this since I was fifteen years old. He was non-religious himself (though raised as an Episcopal Christian) and we got married at the courthouse in Key West, so religion didn’t come into it.

In the course of our marriage and living our life together it became clear to him that I had quite an interest in several unusual things: crystals, herbs and candles. And altars. They were around our house for a number of different reasons all decorated with symbols, statuary, herbs and lit candles at different times and moon phases/sabbats. He remarked that he liked the spirituality of the altars but he never thought anything of it since we also had a lovely Christian altar with the Lady of Guadalupe and a number of antique medieval crosses.

Coming out as a witch to my husband and friends was not easy. I did it in steps and even today there are still some people in certain areas of my life who do not know and some who do know but have no understanding of what being a witch means to me.

My husband reacted as I thought he would – complete understanding and he thought it was very cool.  He even understood that I was Buddhist religiously though I still practiced witchcraft but not as a Wiccan. The truth is witchcraft fit perfecting into my practice of Buddhism and meditation. They compliment each other well.

My friends who knew me for years had no issues with it since they had suspected something was different about me. Accepting me as Buddhist helped them accept me as a witch who not only cast spells for herself and her loved ones but as a business and for my living.

It’s the people who turned their back on me however that were most alarming to me. How could someone accept me as a Buddhist but not accept me as a witch? The answer to that was unfortunately ignorance of what witchcraft is and being confused by Hollywood witchcraft (like Harry Potter) and the pervasive connection of witchcraft with Satanists (and there is no actual truth of any kind to that connection since Satanism is a perversion of Christianity not an earth-based pagan religion).

Witchcraft for me has nothing to do with superstitions, ghosts, evil or Hollywood witches. For me witchcraft is and always has been about connecting with NATURE and the Goddess (who in herself is NATURE).

So you can take all the things that you think witchcraft and magick are and safely store those away under hoo-ha in my opinion. The media does not represent witchcraft. The online world does not represent it (at least not the places where real witches gather to discuss things). Even groups that get together and practice or organized covens do not necessarily represent me as a witch (though I applaud their right to whatever kind of witchcraft they practice).

I don’t wear pentacles usually. I don’t wear goth makeup and clothes. I don’t act like Wednesday Addams or any gothified teenager or emo poster on Tumblr. I am a mature, educated woman who believes in the power of focused will and intention to instigate change. I believe in the power of nature. I believe in the connection of all things. I believe in the light of the Goddess and her consort the God, that we humans are created by both a mother and a father figure.

I love being a witch. I love casting spells. I love every aspect of it from growing herbs, drying them, making magickal herb mixes and gris-gris bags and mojos to scented oils to my own candles. I love writing spells in my Book of Shadows.  I love studying various mysteries. I love documenting my life and spiritual journey as a witch. I love meditating and practicing compassion. I love grounding and centering myself. I love casting a circle whether in my mind or ritually. I love crystals and semi-precious stones for healing and positive energy. I love dedicating my work to the Goddess and sitting in front of a bonfire casting spells in the moonlight as much as I love celebrating the sabbats like upcoming Samhain and all the ritual that goes into it.

Being a witch has always been a part of me for as long as I can remember. I was drawn to nature in a spiritual sense. I told my cousin once that I thought God was a glow of light (I was very young) and that I believed God could be found in a cathedral of trees.

The only difference is now, I KNOW SHE is.

Spells to Bring a Lover Back

bring-back-alost-lover-spell-master27738612948-prof-nana_3

As you can imagine I get many requests for spells to return a lover or  partner whom someone has been broken-up with or that they even ended the relationship themselves. Sometimes after a client has time to consider a break-up they realize it was not their intention to end things. Often people need closure in relationships and there may be unfinished business that you want to settle or perhaps you really loved and cared for someone but did not realize it until it was too late.

There are just as many reasons to bring your lover back as there are relationships and I have a few spells to help.

First you want to consider how long they have been gone. I have a spell called Return to Me which is can be used for short-term or long-term partings.

Then decide what kind of magick is best for you – white magick (like Angel Lover Return), voodoo (gray magick) like Return to Me or dark magick (black magick) like Dark Arts Love Spell. The white magick and voodoo spells are free of risks to you and the one you desire to return but the Dark Arts Love Spell and black magick can be a risky undertaking if you are not careful. You’ve got to make sure that your feelings for this other person are of a pure, unselfish nature.

If the partner you desire to return to you is already involved with someone else you will most likely need to address that either through a Break-Up Spell or an Eliminate A Rival Spell. Both can easily be used with the return a lover line of spells to maximum effect. It is always more powerful if spells are cast together rather than separately.

The success of such spells depends upon many factors so it is difficult to predict how the spell will manifest; therefore it is best to keep an open mind and heart regarding such spells. The most focused clients have the best results. Your belief in magick determines the ultimate success of spells cast upon your behalf.

As I always tell my clients – if there are still feelings between two people, magick can work magick. Where there is love there is hope.

Biological materials? No need.

casting_a_spell_by_pungang-d2ziw96

I recently got an email from a client who told me that she had worked with a voodoo caster who told her to put menstrual blood in something she was serving to her potential love interest. Whoa, girl do NOT do that, I told her immediately hoping that she had no already done so.

Magick is sympathetic in nature meaning that witches and voudons and other magick practitioners use herbs, candles, crystals and other items in spells and rituals. Some use biological materials in their spells and although I understand the significance of its use, in this day and age it simply is not necessary to resort to these practices.

Magick is energy ultimately; it does not rely on biological materials for the efficacy of spells. Many spellcasters use this as some kind of magickal mystique to keep things spooky. The darker the spells often the creepier the ingredients involved.

The truth is creepy ingredients in spells is a considerable misnomer. often spells listed ingredients in the form of code to keep the actual formulas secret. No one was ever using “eye of newt” and batwings in their preparations (though they did and some of us still do use some poisonous plants like belladonna, nightshade and henbane in spells).

Take care if someone tells you especially to use blood or other biological materials like semen, urine and saliva. Steer clear of such practices as there is truly no good reason to tie biological materials into spell casting when it is far more useful to have a photo of the person and their birthdate for the spell to be directed.

Furthermore a spellcaster is the one who should be working the sympathetic nature in the casting or ritual itself, not the client for whom the spell is intended. The client should only have to follow up through appropriate energy-adding instructions.

Magick works through the inherent energy and universal force of all things. It is of a quantum nature not biological.

O Captain! My Captain!

BY WALT WHITMAN

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
                         But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
                                  Fallen cold and dead.
O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
                         Here Captain! dear father!
                            This arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
                                 You’ve fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
                            But I with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
                                  Fallen cold and dead.

Texting Nightmares

purpledragon

Real honest text messages I get:

Idiot: “Hi there do you have any spells for shapeshifting?”

Me: “You mean to turn you into another person or animal?”

Idiot: “Yes, I would like a spell to turn into a dragon.”

Me: “Do you run into many dragons out there? Do you see them on the news?”

Idiot: “So how much for a spell to turn me into a dragon?”

Me: [caller blocked]

I recently made myself available to inquiries and clients through texting. Still too early to tell if this is a huge mistake or not.

Most of my text messages I’m afraid come from kids or teenagers since many of them ask me to make them into vampires, werewolves and mermaids, as well as dragons.

I want to be able to have communication with my potential clients (and my clients of course) so I am available to them directly. without unnecessarily wasting my time. I’ve had a few good inquiries thus far through texting where people have pertinent questions to ask but unfortunately the majority of them tend to be questions like the following: (actual real text messages)

“Are you a real witch?”

“Can you make  a boy like me?”

“I’m 13 years old and I wanna be a witch too!”

Then there are the kind of crazy texters who text me to tell me that they want a genie to do their bidding, they’d like mind-reading powers and they’d like a spell to make them immortal. Yeah, sure. I’ll get right on that.

I’m also available on Facebook and have my share of messages through there that are absurd too with many young people friending me to get me to teach them witchcraft (they hope and then message me and ask me if I will which of course I will not). But every now and then a legitimate inquiry comes through and a client is made and a genuine friendship is born. That’s what I hope for and why I keep letting the texting happen, so far.

Change Your Mind & Change Your Life

Sum-Of-My-Parts-HalfMan-Women-header

I have a new spell that I’m offering that I hope will help some of my clients, specifically the ones who come to me every week asking if I can change their gender.

For the record – no, I absolutely cannot change you biologically from a man into a woman or a woman into a man. There is no way to do this using magick and anyone who tells you that there is, is positively a con-artist!

Currently the only solution for gender dysphoria and transgender issues is through medical science – hormones, plastic surgery for body modification and therapy.

I have developed a spell that can help with transgender issues specifically focusing on your own mind, which can ultimately help you to transform into the gender you are most comfortable with.

The spell works on you to help ease your mind-set to the gender you choose. This can aid then in making further decisions about your new life, new identity and new gender.

You won’t wake up one morning as a biological woman (if you are a man desiring to be female) but in your mind you will be and that can make all the difference in the next steps you take using the available treatments.

It is about accepting yourself and your new life – this spell has extra courage, protection and calm included. I crafted it  to help clients with such issues as this but also to help them make hard decisions of any kind, like breaking up with someone or making a clean slate. This spell is a purge of your old life and mind-set and can be exactly what you need to start living your authentic life.

Salem: Hating on Witches & Women

salem

I am livid after watching the first episode of WGN* America’s flagship series “Salem”. Once again witches are depicted as consorting with The Devil. Once again historical facts are ignored and witches are evil and conforming to all the Christian anti-pagan archetypes.

I watched two episodes of  the TV show American Horror Story: Coven to see how witches were being handled and it was so obscene I could not continue (after a teen witch being gang raped and then murdering a busload of her rapists). It was so horrible I actually felt bad for the women acting in the abomination, even Jessica Lange  and I usually make it a policy to not feel bad for terrible actresses.

Salem doesn’t bother with just torturing women and witches, it completely re-writes history.

Here is my review on IMDB:

This is utter crap. The acting is terrible, the sets dreadful, the story – there is no story just a bunch of historical names being thrown around with bad writing, bad plotting, terrible accents (one of the worst by the female lead who actually is British but is such a terrible actress her accent sounds fake!) and doggie style whore-hammering in the middle of all of it by the God-fearing, let’s burn all the witches preacher. Hunh?????

For some reason there is a New Orleans style whorehouse in the middle of puritanical Salem. Perhaps this is some sort of time-traveling device because the women seem to be from the 18th century, not the 17th century (when the story supposedly takes place). The series creator and writer Brannon Braga (much fallen from Star Trek grace apparently) may have added this sci-fi twist since all the rest of it is pure fantasy.

The premise of the series is: what if the witches in Salem were REAL? What if all that hanging hysteria and murdering of women (and one man) was right the heck on and there were witches among them in good ol’ Salem doing the Devil’s bidding?

Except witches don’t work for the Devil. Witches don’t even believe in the Devil. There is no Devil anywhere under any circumstances in any Earth-based religion. Yet time and time again people take creative license with this and shove witches into the Satan-tango.

How do you think Christians would feel if they were depicted in all movies, books etc as praying to some ridiculous mythological beast – like – The Kraken. What if every time you saw a Christian you heard – oh but they are so into The Kraken – always saying Release the Kraken and praying to The Kraken and wanting to have a party on the dock and invoking The Kraken. It might get a wee bit annoying with all this “the Kraken” stuff when Christians don’t even believe in The Kraken or know what the Sam Hill it is.

And so ignoring all the facts about witches, witchcraft, and the horrible actual history of Salem and how the “law” there murdered women this series adds yet another degrading chapter to how Christians perceive witches as evil and will not let it freaking go (especially as long as it will get ratings and you can toss in some T&A, doggie style sex and a big ugly toad suckling a teat on a hot woman’s thigh).

The truth is Earth-based religion is not that exciting, not that sexy and not that bizarre. It would not make a very interesting horror series. It did not even make the Salem Witch Trials that compelling which is why those people had to lie. And then kill all those women.

This show has no respect for those murdered by the religious right in Salem. This show has no regard for real witches who practice Earth-based religion and are in no way agents of evil or consorting with the Devil. The Devil is a Christian concept and has no place in witchcraft.

It’s bad enough to be insulted every Halloween, to have shows like American Horror Story: Coven and movies like The Craft to deal with but one of the darkest hours in the history of witchcraft in this country depicted in this manner? Beyond offensive. It is simply shameful.

*According to WGN America a second 13 episode season has been ordered.

What Spells Cannot Do

Witch_and_Wolf

I need to repeat this because I still get so many inquiries about it. Granted there may be some out there from kids who are just having some fun but it scares me a little to think there could actually be people who believe in such things. Now after that brutal stabbing in Wisconsin with the two 12 year old girls who allegedly “believed” they were in communication with a fictional horror story character, I need to make things as clear as I possibly can.

There are no spells to turn people into werewolves, vampires and mermaids. No one anywhere has spells that can do this for the main reason that these are FICTIONAL characters that do not exist in the real world. Even if they did exist there are no spells that can turn a human from being a human into another biological being. That is beyond fiction, it is fairy-tale, Hollywood stuff.

I have written about gender dysphoria before as well since I get weekly inquiries from people who want to change their gender.

Before you write to me to ask me to turn you from a man into a hot sexy woman (they almost always are men who want to be hot, sexy women, which seems odd to me and fetishistic considering that if you are truly suffering from gender dysphoria wouldn’t it simply be ok to change your gender into a woman and then work out the hot, sexy part on your own?) please consider the following:

Have you met anyone who has changed their gender through a spell and NOT sexual reassignment surgery?

Have you heard of anyone who has changed their gender through magickal means and not surgery? This would be rather a big story, sort of like Chastity Bono becoming Chaz Bono and going on “Dancing with the Stars”, so it would be all over the news, online, a really big story that transpeople can now change their biological gender through magick.

Gender reassignment surgery is tens of thousands of dollars (depending on what you have done), up at $80K for the full monty (no pun intended) if you are a male to female with complete surgery. How much do you think a spell would cost that involved no surgery, no pain, no recovery time and that made you hot and sexy to boot?

Gender dysphoria is serious and people need help to deal with it and that help can easily be found online in many resources but witches and magick are NOT one of them.

Other things spells cannot do:

Change your eye color.

Change your skin color.

Change your hair length, texture and color.

Alter your looks in any way.

Make you taller or shorter.

Give you muscles.

Give you enlarged body parts of any kind.

Help you with biological conditions (that’s where science comes in, folks!).

Turn you into an animal.

It is understandable that we all gravitate toward some degree of fantasy and that’s fine when kept in perspective, but do not confuse fantasy with reality.

Real magick is always based upon Natural Law. Unless you routinely run across werewolves, vampires, mermaids, immortals and men who have instantly been turned into hot, sexy women, there is no chance there will be a spell to make this happen.

And if you do routinely run into the aforementioned perhaps you have a little more on your plate than needing a spell!

Killers?

A_Wicked_Witch_by_killer_queen_g

Sometimes I get strange requests as a witch. Pretty much every week someone writes to me because they want to become a werewolf/mermaid/vampire (not all three at once) and at least once a week a man writes to me who wants to become a woman who is sexy and has big breasts (why always sexy? why always big breasts?). I’m not talking about those requests because I’ve been getting them for years.

Recently I’ve been getting requests to kill people. I’ve had them occasionally in the almost 12 years I’ve been doing this online but they have always been from men and usually having to do with a rival in business but once or twice in love. In the past year however I’ve gotten requests from women to kill people.

This stands out to me because in all the years I’ve done this that has never happened. Imagine my shock when I got the first request. But then shortly thereafter, a second, a third, a fourth! What is going on, ladies? Are women becoming cold-blooded killers?

It has to be stated that I will not cast a spell to physically or otherwise HARM another. You cannot trick me into doing this. If I knew spells to harm people i would never use them. The truth is as deeply as I believe in magick such curses and hexes only work if the person they are cast upon BELIEVES that they work.

As a Buddhist I am a pacifist. I do not believe in killing for any reason. I am stunned that I have had to write to women and tell them this. No, I will not cast a spell to kill the woman who is pregnant with your husband/boyfriend’s baby. I will not cast a spell to kill the woman that your husband/boyfriend is having an affair with.

What truly disturbs me is how misplaced such anger is. Why would you want to kill the woman? Is she really the problem here? Isn’t it the man? I’m asking this rhetorically, of course it is the man’s fault!

So for future reference to potential lady-killers (and all killers) out there. I’m not the right one to exact your murderous revenge. And whoa, people, get some professional help!
